The Alexandria Biennale
ARTSART MARKETEXHIBITION
8/22/2025

Founded in 1955, the Alexandria Biennale is the third-oldest international art biennale after Venice and São Paulo. After 12 years of absence, it returns in September 2026 under the curatorship of artist and activist Moataz Nasr.
The Biennale will feature:
- 50+ international and Mediterranean artists
- Collateral shows highlighting emerging Egyptian talents
- Talks, music, and performances across Alexandria’s iconic venues
The title "This Too Shall Pass" draws from an ancient Persian proverb, often linked to Sufi poetry and the tale of a wise king. It reminds us that all things, whether challenges or triumphs, are temporary. It carries a message of hope in difficult times and humility in moments of joy. After years of silence, Egypt’s cultural landscape aims to revive its art scene and foster dialogue across borders.
